Self Catering in Central Portugal
Welcome to River Cottage, a newly renovated two bedroom self catering holiday cottage in a small village surrounded by pine and eucalyptus forests.
River Cottage is located in the small hillside village named Trespostos which has narrow cobble stone roads and is only a 10 minute drive from the market town Castanheira de Pera and walking distance to the pretty village Campelo.
The property has 2 large double bedrooms upstairs both with double beds, 4 draw chests, beside tables, double wardrobe and reclaimed hard wood floors.
On the ground floor there is a spacious fully equiped kitchen (with energy efficient appliances). A large open plan lounge/diner with two sofas, satelite tv and dvd player, dining table and 4 chairs.
Outside is the garden terrace and bbq area with table chairs and sun umbrella overlooking fruit trees and woodland.
Central Portugal is full of history and culture and with an abundance of picturesque towns and villages. Life here is very different from northern europe.
Surrounded by pine and eucalyptus forests there are endless possibilities for walking, rambling and cycling. There are many lovely river beaches in the surrounding villages (praia fluvials) for swimming and sunbathing and several lagoons (albufeiras) for fishing and water sports.
Portugal is one of the warmest European countries, Spring and Summer are hot and sunny with temperatures climbing as high as 45șC. Autumn and Winter can be wet, yet it's not uncommon to have long warm sunny spells with clear blue skies.
